I wrote a text post in December of last year. One of my lowest points. I keep that post saved in my drafts. I read it every now and again as a reminder of where I was and where I never want to be again. It’s crazy to see the change in myself from then to now.

I really rarely put my personal opinions online, especially when it has to do with scandals in the YouTube community. I avoid it because I just really don’t like confrontation and I know how out of hand people online can get with situations like these. We all see it in the comment section on popular videos all the time and I just don’t want to get involved in any of that. However… the Sam Pepper situation really just deeply bothered me and I felt the need to speak up about it. I do not create or upload content onto YouTube, but I do have a very active role as a viewer. I feel like I am very much a part of the YouTube community. I’ve been watching for years. I had watched Sam Pepper’s videos in the past, and definitely felt very uncomfortable while viewing them. I did not understand how he had so many subscribers and wondered why what he was doing was considered to be ‘funny’ by anyone, when it was so obviously wrong. I never was subscribed to him, and of course, I would not even think about hitting that subscribe button now. I’m glad that Sam’s latest video, in which he sexually harasses multiple women, has caused such a huge outcry by the YouTube community. I’m glad that YouTubers with huge fan bases are speaking out against Sam Pepper and bringing attention to this issue. I am happy to see that Sam Pepper has been banned from VidCon and will no longer be featured on The Fine Bros’ YouTubers React. Sam Pepper’s video is upsetting, beyond wrong, and completely unfunny. It’s offensive, and there is no place for videos like this on YouTube. That is not what I want to see, as a viewer, and I know that I am not alone. Please do not watch the video. Understand that when you watch it, he is gaining views and therefore getting more money. Don’t reward him for such a disgusting video. What you can do to help is pause the video right when it is starting and report it. What makes me even more upset about this issue is that Sam has remained mum the whole time. I know that he has seen the outcry from the community. He has neither addressed the issue or taken the video down. I am also disappointed in YouTube for not taking the video down. I guess we’ll see what will happen in the next few days. Thanks for reading, if you did. The whole situation was just very upsetting to me.

I wish he could see himself the way that I see him. He is an amazing and beautiful person inside and out.

The letter has been written. It’s pretty nerve-wracking, but I think it’ll be okay. 😌
